Mechanochemistry opens the way to nucleotide synthesis

by corneille - published on

Collaborative work between the “Nucleosides and Phosphoryl Effectors” and “Green Chemistry and Enabling Technologies” research groups from IBMM has shown the positive impact of mechanochemistry on dinucleotide synthesis.

The ball milling technique not only limits the use of solvents and toxic reagents, but also reduces the amounts of by-products generated during the synthesis of dinucleosides 5’,5’-polyphosphates (DNP) so as to facilitate purification, a critical point in nucleotide chemistry.

This gentle, fast and efficient approach offers new perspectives for the synthesis of nucleotide conjugates and analogues.
