Currently, olefin metathesis is one of the most intensively studied transformations in synthetic organic chemistry. It is, however, quite surprising that while this transformation has been used in laboratory scale syntheses of thousands of natural and biologically active compounds, it is rather slowly entering commercial manufacturing of fine chemicals and drugs (APIs). This could be caused by a variety of reasons ; during the lecture a number of representative examples and proposed solutions will be analysed.
