Our ongoing research pursuit focuses on developing new building blocks for the synthesis of important molecules. In this context a building block enabling C–C bond formation through modified Julia olefination protocol has been developed for the synthesis of (+)-Varitriol analogues. Varitriol is a natural product isolated from the fungal strain in 2002, which has attracted the attention of a synthetic chemist due to its interesting biological profile. The second part of the lecture will focus on our long standing interest in developing building blocks based on Weinreb-amide functionality for the applications in synthesis. Building blocks containing Weinreb-amide functionality and used towards the synthesis of FTY-720 (immunosuppressant), Phenstatin analogues and novel heparinoid mimetic will be discussed.

N.B. Les personnes souhaitant rencontrer le Prof. Indrapal Singh lors de sa visite à Montpellier sont invitées à contacter Frédéric Lamaty à l’IBMM (courriel).
