Synthesize metal complexes in an innovative way, it’s possible!
Access to organometallic compounds or coordination complexes may be essential during a multi-step synthesis (organomagnesium, lithium…), during the synthesis of a catalyst (palladium, ruthenium complexes…) or simply to obtain a complex with therapeutic properties (cisplatin…).
The Green Chemistry and Enabling Technologies team of the IBMM has published in the journal Chemical Reviews a review entitled “Alternative Technologies That Facilitate Access to Discrete Metal Complexes” showing that the synthesis of metal complexes can be performed using innovative technologies such as microwaves, ultrasound, photochemistry, flow chemistry and mechanochemistry. Classical solution chemistry, beware !
