Biography
Joao completed his higher education at the Paul-Sabatier University, Toulouse, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry. He then obtained a Master degree in Green Chemistry, which enabled him to further specialize in organic chemistry via new, more environmentally-friendly activation methods. During this Master degree, he completed a first internship in Toulouse under the supervision of Dr. Christophe Coudret in the IDeAS team, working on up-converting nanoparticles and photochemistry. He then joined the Green Chemistry and Enabling Technologies team at the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM) for a six-month internship in collaboration with the department of MacroMolecular Chemistry and Materials of the Institut Charles Gerhardt de Montpellier (ICGM), supervised by Dr. Xavier Bantreil and Dr. Julien Pinaud. He worked on the development of novel methodologies using mechanochemistry in ball-mills. At the end of this internship, he continued with a PhD on a collaborative project between IBMM, ICGM and CIRIMAT of Toulouse funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) under the supervision of Xavier Bantreil and Julien Pinaud, to work on the development of mechanochemistry in ball-mills to promote innovative mechanochemical reactions.
