Biography
Valérie Bultel-Poncé (Research Engineer) studied organic chemistry at the University of Montpellier and defended her PhD in pharmacognosy in 1991 from the University of Perpignan. She completed post-doctoral studies at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in Paris, in the field of natural substance chemistry. She was then promoted as an engineer and worked in the field of marine chemistry and phytochemistry at MNHN's Natural Substances Chemistry Laboratory. She moved to the University of Montpellier in 2005, she joined the SLB research team and IBMM in 2007. Her research focuses on organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry, in particular on the total synthesis of oxygenated derivatives obtained in vivo from the non-enzymatic peroxidation of PUFAs, such as isoprostanes, phytoprostanes and neuroprostanes. She is currently developing photoactivatable probe syntheses to decipher neuroprostane interactions in the cell (membrane receptor/organelle/interactome).
