Biography

Michela Di Michele is an associate professor in biochemistry at the Chemistry School of Montpellier (ENSCM, France) and conducts her research on the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) at the Max Mousseron Institute of Biomolecules (IBMM).

After completing a PhD in plant biology at the University of Molise (Italy) and INRAE of Bordeaux (France), she broadened her expertise in human health within various laboratories. She developed her skills in proteomics and mass spectrometry in the fields of cancer and cardiovascular diseases at the Catholic University of Campobasso (Italy), the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), VIB of Ghent (Belgium) and the Montpellier Cancer Research Institute (France).

Currently, her work focuses on the role of the ghrelin receptor, involved in the regulation of appetite and energy metabolism, in major pathologies such as cancer and metabolic diseases. Her research aims to study the conformational changes and signaling pathways associated with the ghrelin receptor, in order to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying these diseases and identify new therapeutic targets.
