Biography
After training as a biochemist at the University of Reims, Nicolas Floquet shifted to bioinformatics and molecular modeling during his DEA at Paris 7. In 2004, he defended his thesis on the structural study of peptides derived from the extra-cellular matrix. Nicolas then joined ICSN in Gif sur Yvette for a 3-year post-doctorate dedicated to modeling Glucosamine-6P synthase, a large soluble and dimeric enzyme involved in type 2 diabetes. Recruited by the CNRS in 2007, he joined IBMM as a research fellow; since then, his work has focused on the dynamics of G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs), using the available structures of these key proteins as starting points. Working at the interface between modeling / biochemistry / molecular biophysics and chemistry, his work aims to reveal the activation / inhibition mechanisms of these membrane receptors at time scales and resolutions difficult to achieve experimentally.
