Biography
Janique Guiramand is a neuropharmacologist. Following her PhD in 1991 on the characterization of the newly discovered metabotropic glutamate receptors and a post-doctoral fellow on the long and short isoforms of dopamine D2 receptors, she focused her work on the regulations of development and survival of neurons. In particular with her colleagues, they worked on the mechanisms of resistance of neural cells against oxidative stress, notably the role of relationships between calcium regulations and the effects of natural and/or endogenous antioxidant. They also addressed the role of oxidative stress and its impact on inhibitory and excitatory transmissions in an experimental model of neurodevelopmental diseases.
