Biography

Pauline Henri, research engineer in biochemistry at the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM), conducts her research on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) within the team of Jean-Louis Banères, which she joined in 2023.

She has been working at the IBMM since 2006, the year she began her PhD in health biology at the University of Montpellier, focusing on the role of the cutaneous receptor MC1R in UVA-induced oxidative stress. She also holds a degree from the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, where she specialized in biochemistry, molecular biology, and structural biology.

For fifteen years, she carried out research in the field of dermatology, with a particular interest in the roles of GRKs and β-arrestins in the regulation of skin functions under normal and pathological conditions (inflammation, oxidative stress, psoriasis).

Her current work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways associated with the ghrelin receptor, a GPCR involved in regulating major physiological functions such as appetite and energy metabolism. She contributes to the development of biochemical and biophysical approaches aimed at better characterizing the receptor’s non-canonical functions, with the goal of gaining deeper insights into its physiopathological implications.
