Biography
Dr Marie Lopez obtained her PhD in 2007 at Grenoble University working on chemo-enzymatic synthesis and interaction studies of oligosaccharides under the supervision of Dr Hugues Driguez and Dr Alain Buléon. In 2008, she joined the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD) in Brisbane where she worked on glycosylated carbonic anhydrase inhibitors under the supervision of Prof. Sally-Ann Poulsen. She then worked on anti-infectious agents to target Mycobacterium tuberculosis at the IRIM and IBMM laboratories in Montpellier. In 2013, she was recruited by the CNRS to work on targeting and understanding DNA methylation through inhibition and chemical probe strategies at the ETaC laboratory in Toulouse (headed by Paola B. Arimondo). In 2018, she moved to the IBMM in Montpellier, where she is managing a research group working in chemistry and chemical biology to understand and target epigenetic modifications in pathological contexts.
