Biography
In 2000, I did a post-doctoral fellowship in the USA in the Biochemistry laboratory headed by Pr M. Inouye (Piscataway, NJ), during which I studied the role of intramolecular chaperones in subtilisin folding.
From 2001 to 2004, I worked as a contract researcher in LAPP under a private contract with the Ipsen Beaufour laboratories.
In 2005, I was recruited as an assistant professor in Pharmacology at the UFR pharmacie in Montpellier.
On a thematic level, my recruitment as an assistant professor in a laboratory strongly oriented towards diabetology (e.g. UMR CNRS 5232, directed by Pierre Petit) led me to refocus my research on the pharmacology of type 2 diabetes, in particular by developing in this laboratory a new theme centered on the effects of natural molecules (polyphenol metabolites) on pancreatic β-cell functionality and glucose homeostasis, with the aim of developing new molecules in the prevention/treatment of metabolic diseases.
I defended my habilitation to supervise research in 2007 and I was recruited as a Professor of Pharmacology in 2015 at the UFR pharmacie in Montpellier.
My recruitment a Professor was simultaneous with the integration of our research group within the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM, CNRS UMR 5247) in the cellular pharmacology team directed by JL Banères.
Within JL Banères' team, I'm in charge of the Diabetes - Ghrelin group. I coordinate a project to study the pharmacological effects of natural molecules (polyphenols and polyphenol metabolites) and synthetic molecules (ghrelin receptor ligands) on the various cell types involved in energy homeostasis, with a view to developing new molecules in the field of neurometabolic diseases.
In parallel with these activities, I am responsible for the scientific follow-up and management of service contracts dedicated to the study of gas tolerance for industrial use.
