Biography
Jean-Baptiste THIBAUD got his PhD in May 1981 from the University of Montpellier, France under the supervision of Prof. Claude Grignon (research work dealt with chemiosmotic coupling of nitrate uptake with H+-ATPase activity in maize roots). From October 1981 he got a contractual position at the "Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique" (CNRS) in Prof. Grignon's lab and subsequently got a permanent position in 1984 as "Chargé de Recherche" in this lab. He obtained the habilitation in 1987 after a research project on electrogenic coupling of K+ transport with the H+-ATPase activity in plant roots. In 1992 he became a group leader and, in 1997, his position was upgraded as "Directeur de Recherche", focusing his work on K+ channels expressed in plants and their role in mineral nutrition, growth and development (1992-2008) and also in plant electrical signaling (2009-2014). In 2015 he joined Pierre CHARNET's team and, from this time, participated in works of this team on honeybee neurophysiology.
