MAOPS 2011 : 2nd International Microwave-Assisted Organic and Peptide Synthesis Symposium

The second edition of MAOPS (Microwave-Assisted Organic and Peptide Synthesis Symposium) took place this year from April 27 to 29 in Florence (Italy). Following the first edition held in La Grande Motte (France), this conference was organized together with the University of Florence and the Institute of Biomolecules Max Mousseron (IBMM) of Montpellier. Different sessions, each one with a plenary lecture and oral communications, presented the state of the art of various topics such as applications of microwaves in catalysis and polymer chemistry, combinatorial and peptide chemistry using microwaves, microwaves as innovative technologies in green chemistry and solvent-free reactions, microwaves in organic chemistry. The city of Florence provided a magnificent environment for this meeting : scientific sessions took place in the Chiostro del Maglio, the opening ceremony in the Palazzo Vecchio and the conference dinner in the Palazzo Borghese (picture, from left to right : Evelina Colacino (Montpellier), Giang Vo-Thanh (Orsay), Frédéric Lamaty (Montpellier), Anna Maria Papini (Florence), Fabio Rizzolo (Florence), Gilles Subra (Montpellier), Francesca Nuti (Florence)). The third edition will take place in 2013 in Girona, Spain.
