Biography
Bruna Butke de Souza began her academic career by obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Technological Chemistry from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil) in 2022, where she was awarded the Lavoisier Prize by CRQ-IV/SP. During her undergraduate studies, she worked on the organic synthesis of quinazoline derivatives with potential antimicrobial activity. She then started her PhD in March 2023 at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas under the supervision of Professor Dr. Julio Cezar Pastre. Her research focuses on biomass valorization, particularly on the synthesis of novel aromatic compounds derived from renewable feedstocks, aiming to develop sustainable and innovative approaches in organic chemistry. She is currently a visiting PhD researcher in the Green Chemistry and Enabling Technologies team at the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron, where she is carrying out part of her doctoral research on the sustainable mechanosynthesis of heteroaromatic frameworks under the supervision of Dr. Frédéric Lamaty and Professor Dr. Xavier Bantreil.
