Biography

Hugo Dos Prazeres graduated with a university and technological bachelor's degree in chemistry in August 2025 from the University and Technological Institute of Castres. During his formation, he has done a 10-week internship at the IFP Nouvelles Energies (Lyon, France) whose subject was the synthesis and characterization of zeolites for catalytic applications. He has also done a work-study placement at M2i Group (Lacq, France) where he has worked on multi-step organic syntheses and on different purification techniques, in particular during an external service delivery project focused on the synthesis of an alkane by starting with a primary alcohol (bench tests + scale-up with a 20L reactor). He has led intern projects such as analytic standards syntheses, pheromone syntheses (with a 2L and 20L scale up) and formulation of pheromone active ingredients at an industrial scale (2 000L).

Hugo is actually a chemistry engineer assistant (3 years contract) in an industrial chair (SICLE.e) focused on an innovative silicium based leather tanning process. This project is gathering multiple partners such as the CTC group, the Max Mousseroun biomolecules institute (IBMM), the Charles Gerhardt institute of Montpellier (ICGM), and the BioWooEB laboratory of Cirad. This project is structured around two main research axes : The innovative, non-toxic and patented silicium based leather tanning process that offers environmental performances, new functions for the leather and valorization, by-products and effluents from tanning to create new materials that could interest other sectors like agriculture, food processing or the construction industry.
