Biography

Michel Vignes is currently Professor of Neurosciences at the University of Montpellier. Since he got his PhD, he has been working on the excitatory synaptic transmission by studying the pharmacology of both metabotropic and ionotropic glutamate receptors and by assessing their involvement in synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus. He has joined several projects dealing the study of the changes in excitatory transmission observed under pathological conditions as neurodegenerative diseases. He is currently developing new approaches to monitor synaptic transmission in the honeybee brain.
