Simon Galas’ team honored in the CNRS Journal
The CNRS is highlighting the work of Simon Galas’ team (in collaboration with Aymeric Bailly, our neighbor at the CRBM) following their recent publication in Science Advances.
The study demonstrates that a tardigrade gene, Dsup, can be transferred into Caenorhabditis elegans, conferring increased resistance to oxidative stress and radiation.
Remarkably, this protection is accompanied by a significant extension of lifespan in the modified organisms, without affecting their development or fertility.
These findings open new perspectives on DNA protection mechanisms and the links between cellular stress and aging.
