Stage 6 mois : Synthèse mécano-catalysée de molécules d’intérêt pour la santé, optimisée par l’intelligence artificielle
Internship (Master 2, or 3rd Year Engineering school) in Organic Mechanochemistry and AI
Mechanocatalyzed synthesis of health-related molecules, optimized by Artificial Intelligence
At the Institute of Biomolecules Max Mousseron, Montpellier, France. Starting February-March 2026.
The project:
Reactive extrusion known also as flow mechanochemistry provides a continuous and sustainable approach to organic synthesis, mainly by drastically reducing the amount of solvent used. Applications in the field of organic synthesis have been limited so far to a few examples including some developed in our team.
The internship, sponsored by a “Chem-IA” fellowship from the University of Montpellier, will aim at developing innovative catalytic solutions to make an amide bond, present in many molecules of interest, by a mechanochemistry/machine learning approach.
The tasks will include (i) carrying organic mechanochemistry experiments in an extruder (ii) developing an algorithm for a Bayesian optimization approach (iii) applying the developed methods to target molecules such as active pharmaceutical ingredients.
