Biography

After obtaining a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences from the University of Montpellier in 2017, Justine Vaillé completed a PhD in Biology (health science) at IBMM in the Cellular Pharmacology team. Her PhD work explored the cardiovascular properties of colored rice and identified rice compounds with anti-hypertensive activity in a spontaneously hypertensive rat model.

In 2024, Justine joined the Cellular Pharmacology team at the University of Montpellier, where she is studying the pharmacological activity of naturally-occurring molecules (such as polyphenols and their metabolites) and their semi-synthetic derivatives. She is also involved in research projects addressing the pharmacology and biological properties of the ghrelin receptor (a GPCR). The ultimate goal of her research is to evaluate the therapeutic potential of these compounds to treat neurometabolic disorders.
