Evelina Colacino (Green Chemistry and Enabling Technology Team) at the Institute of Biomolecules Max Mousseron is the point of contact at the University of Montpellier for the International Undegraduate Awards Program. The Université of Montpellier is the first in France to have signed an affiliation agreement with International Undergraduate Awards Program (AU). UA is a no-profit organisation born in February 2012 under the patronage of the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins and it is recognized worldwide as the ’Nobel Prize for juniors’. It is a multidisciplinary and prestigeous program covering 25 categories - including chemistry – with the objective to identify, celebrate and support the brightest and most innovative high-potential students, in the world for each discipline. The participation is opened to 2nd year Master students or those who graduated last year. The best projects (or research) are awarded with a prize and the evaluation is based on a meritocratic system : all candidates undergo to the same judging process, irrespective of the University of origin, the study discipline, Country membership, since the project evaluation process is anonymous, fair and based on merit only. The winners in each discipline are rewarded by having their work published in an international scientific journal ’The Undergraduate Journal - A Collection of Winning Entries’ having a very wide distribution in universities around the world (also available online for free) and used as a mean of recruitment and talent identification. Each year in September, the winners in each discipline are invited to Dublin (Ireland) for three days all expenses paid, to attend the ceremony at the World Summit Undergraduate Awards. This event is also an opportunity to link the brightest students in the world to each other and allow them access to the network of UA winners in previous years, providing the network and the opportunities they need to raise their profiles and to further their careers. Submissions for 2015 have been 5117, from 255 universities in 39 countries. For the year 2016, the process of registration and submission is already open and will close current May 2016.
